The judging of entries for the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival tm Poster Contest will be in two phases.
Phase 1: Call for Portfolios – Deadline, August 5th, 2012
Artist will create and submit a poster design to the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties, Hudson Valley Garlic Festival tm Committee. Artist will create and submit only one poster design. Actual poster size is 13” x 17”, entries should be roughly proportional to that size. A self addressed, stamped envelope must be provided if the artist wants the work returned.
The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties, Hudson Valley Garlic Festival tm Committee will then review portfolios and select three finalists. The committee will be looking for creativity, originality and style that would work well on posters, tee shirts and printed materials. Samples of previous year’s posters can be seen on our web site: www.hvgf.org
Phase 2: Selection of Three Finalists – Deadline, September 1st, 2012
The three finalists chosen by the HVGF Committee will be notified by September 1st, 2012. The poster designs will be displayed at this year’s festival, September 24th and 25th, 20011 at the information/press tent. The public will vote for their favorite. The entry receiving the most votes will be next year’s poster/tee shirt design. In the event of a tie, HVGF committee will make the final selection.
Prizes:
Each finalist will receive one tee shirt from this years festival and two tickets to the festival. Contest winner will receive $400, a poster and tee shirt featuring his/her winning design.
Artist Reproduction Rights:
Original artwork remains the property of the artist who may use the design for self promotion, portfolio work or exhibits. The artist agrees that the winning design will not be used for any other garlic festival. Items featuring the winning design may not be sold except at the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival tm official souvenir booth. The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties may reproduce the design in perpetuity for the promotion of the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival tm. Artist will be given credit on all printed matter or anywhere the design is used.
