Garlic Seed Foundation

David Stern is the current Director, writer, lecturer, horticulturist and cofounder (1985) of the Garlic Seed Foundation (GSF), an educational not-for-profit organization that promotes ecological production and hearty consumption of garlic. The GSF publishes the Garlic Press, a newsletter for garlic enthusiasts everywhere.

What is the Garlic Seed Foundation (GSF)?
The GSF has grown to an international organization of over 1,400 members, primarily centered in the Eastern U.S. You too can become a member. (They even have cool garlic T-shirts.) Stop by the Garlic Seed Foundation booth for information on subscribing to the Garlic Press, becoming a member of the GSF, or for some good, honest advice about growing harvesting, drying, and braiding garlic.

What Can They Do for You?

  • Answer questions and share information on the Garlic "hot-line"
  • Offer educational books, videos, reprints, T-shirts, cards, jewelry and paper for sale
  • Sponsor and attend field days and informational seminars, and support members' research
  • Help to organize, promote, and attend Garlic Festivals, and provide regional contacts
  • List members who have planting materials, available for trade and sale
  • Provide fellowship and mentoring with other hardworking garlic crazies
  • Publish "The Garlic Press" with articles on:

    • Botany and history
    • Kitchen recipes, tools and chef's secrets
    • Cultural practices, machinery and varieties
    • Medical and field research
    • Inside industry information
    • Festival reports and marketing ideas
    • Useless and tasteless tidbits thus helping return culture to agriculture

"Your input and collaboration are welcome, whether you want to learn production techniques, point out research needs to solve problems, enter your garlic strains for evaluation, purchase seed stock, receive the newsletter, or participate in the annual Garlic Day."
